All about Photodamage

At LASKIN we have professionals and state-of-the-art laser equipment to help you.

Skin spots caused by photodamage, also known as sun exposure-induced dyschromia, are a common concern in dermatology. This type of irregular skin pigmentation occurs due to a series of factors, with ultraviolet (UV) radiation being one of the main triggers. Chronic exposure to UV rays causes the activation of melanocytes, cells responsible for the production of melanin, resulting in an overproduction of pigment and, consequently, the appearance of spots. Other factors such as genetics, aging and inflammation can also contribute to the formation of these skin spots.

Photodamage to the skin can manifest itself in a series of problems such as wrinkles, dark spots or blemishes, sagging, aging and a considerable increase in the risk of skin cancer. Its main causes are: Unprotected sun exposure - Spending time in the sun without using adequate sunscreen is a main cause. The sun's UVB and UVA rays damage collagen and elastin fibers, leading to the formation of spots, wrinkles and loss of elasticity; Tanning and sunburn – Repeated tanning and sunburn significantly increases the risk of photodamage. Every sunburn damages the skin; Long exposure - Chronic sun exposure, even without sunburn, can accumulate damage over time.

Treatment

At LASKIN PRO we offer the Fotona ® StarWalker ® MaQX laser Photodamage treatment, an effective solution to rejuvenate and restore skin health. Its advanced laser technology addresses multiple aspects of sun damage to the skin.

This treatment is made up of three key steps:
  1. Spot removal: Fotona's Starwalker laser directs soft pulses of light directly on the pigment, lightening spots caused by sun exposure and aging.
  2. Removal of spider veins or telangiectasias on the face: The laser can also treat spider veins or telangiectasias , which are small dilated vessels on the surface of the skin, improving the general appearance of the face.
  3. Skin rejuvenation and improvement in enlarged pores and texture: The treatment helps stimulate collagen production, which in turn improves skin texture, reduces enlarged pores and provides a younger, healthier appearance.

Depending on the person, melasma may go away on its own, may be permanent, or may respond to treatment within a few months. Most cases of melasma will disappear over time and especially with good protection from sunlight and other light sources.

If you have spots, rough skin, spider veins or telangiectasias on your face and want to improve the texture and tone of your skin, Cosmelan , Silkpeel or specialized laser technology are some of the treatments we offer at LASKIN and are an excellent option for you.
